Game Scoring
System |
|
The
New Rally Point Scoring system adopted as from the 2007-2008 season, is
detailed below: |
|
1) |
9 sets of 'best of 3 games' to 21 points (i.e. 3 pairs
v 3 pairs) The first team to 21 points wins, except After 20 points All, the team to get a 2 point lead wins or At 29 points All the next point wins 30-29 Whichever pair wins a rally, Wins serve (see 7 & 8) Whichever pair wins a rally, Scores a point (see 9 & 10) When winning serve, if the new score is Even then the players in box 'A' or 'D' serve When winning serve, if the new score is Odd then the players in box 'B' or 'C' serve When serving, the server swaps from box 'B' to 'A' or 'C' to 'D' if the new score is Even When serving, the server swaps from box 'A' to 'B' or 'D' to 'C' if the new score is Odd The serving order should stay the same regardless of the players position on court |
i.e. Player 'A', Player 'C', Player 'B',
Player 'D', Player 'A', etc... |
|
| And should be matched by the score | |
Note: Although reluctantly for the 2007-2008 season, ALL Newbury teams will be playing the 'best of 3 games', where some usually play the 'best of 2 games' due to time constraints with their court bookings. For an Information fact sheet go to the Downloads area |

| Guidelines for Completing Score cards | |
| 1) | Each season the League Fixture Secretary's receive numerous Score Cards that have been completed incorrectly, making their job more time consuming & difficult. |
| 2) | For this reason the following guidelines have been drawn up to make their life easier. Team Captains should take note of these points - especially those New to the role! |
| 3) | Incorrectly completed cards may mean that match results are recorded the wrong way round !! |

| Additional Notes: | ||
| 1) | Please include both First names & Surnames when completing the Cards. This helps with getting correct names reported in Match Reports and checking legality of fielded players. | |
| 2) | a) | Basingstoke - Provision is not given for highlighting Team & Division on their cards. This doesn't stop you adding this detail though. |
| b) | Newbury - Circle the appropriate League and Division of the Match being played (or cross out the irrelevant Leagues/Divisions). | |
| 3) | Please note that all matches consist of 9 rubbers - each rubber consists of 3 games to 21 points (ref. New Rally Point Scoring system as detailed above). | |
| 4) | If a match is conceded, the Home Team MUST still complete and return the Score Card stating which Match has been conceded and by which Team. | |
| 5) | a) | Basingstoke - N/A. |
| b) | Newbury - Space has now been provided, for Captains to add personnel comments about each match (i.e. note worthy performances). These comments will be of great use to the press reporters, easing their burden. The comments may therefore be included as part of the press releases, making them more imformative about the actual events. | |
